New Hampshire Art Association invites New England artists working in all mediums to submit work for the 27th Annual Joan L. Dunfey Exhibition. This exhibition honors the life and legacy of Joan L. Dunfey (1925–1998), a devoted mother, Seacoast resident, and steadfast patron of the arts whose generosity continues to support artists today through the Joan L. Dunfey Fund for the Arts.

The exhibition is open-themed, welcoming diverse artistic voices and perspectives. Artists may submit 1–3 works for consideration. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, along with an Artist Under 30 Award.

Meet Our Juror

Sarah Elliott, Lecturer of Painting and Drawing at UNH

Sarah Elliott creates oil and watercolor paintings, as well as charcoal drawings, in which constantly shifting colors and values intertwine with sounds and rhythms in her mind, evoking a contemplative engagement with both figurative and non-figurative subjects. A broad spectrum of artistic traditions has deeply influenced her work due to living most of her life outside of the United States (Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Mainland China and France). In particular, while in France, her art and teaching were transformed by the original research shared by Francis Pratt, Director of the Painting School of Montmiral. Sarah received her MFA at Boston University and has participated in numerous residencies since 1993. She has taught art to a broad age range in all the countries mentioned above. Her work has been exhibited in the United States, Italy and France. Currently, she resides in Durham, NH and is a Lecturer of painting and drawing at UNH.
